SmartPrep Labs ("we", "us", "our") operates the IELTS Writing 2026 Practice mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide

• Account Information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL.
• Essay Content: Text you type or upload (via handwriting OCR) for AI evaluation.
• Mock Exam Responses: Your practice and exam submissions.

b) Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device model, operating system, unique device identifiers (for guest accounts and analytics).
• Usage Data: Features used, practice sessions completed, scores received, time spent in the App.
• Crash and Performance Data: Via Firebase Crashlytics to improve app stability.

c) Information from Third Parties

• Authentication Providers: Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In provide basic profile data.
• Payment Processors: Apple App Store and Google Play handle payments. We receive subscription status but never your payment card details.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscription state. Receives your anonymized user ID.

3. AI Processing

• Your essays are sent to Google Gemini API and/or OpenAI API for evaluation.
• These services process your text to generate feedback and scores.
• We do not use your essays to train AI models. Google and OpenAI have their own data processing policies.
• Essay content is transmitted securely via HTTPS.

4. Data Storage

• Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) servers located in the United States.
• Guest account data is stored locally on your device and in Firestore linked to your device ID.
• Authenticated account data is stored in Firestore linked to your user ID.
• We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Google Firebase: Cloud infrastructure, authentication, analytics, crash reporting.
• Google Gemini / OpenAI: Essay text for AI evaluation only.
• RevenueCat: Subscription management (anonymized user ID).
• Google AdMob: Advertising in free tier (device identifiers, ad interaction data).
• Law Enforcement: If required by law or to protect our rights.

6. Advertising

The free tier of the App displays ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for personalized advertising. Premium subscribers do not see ads. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View your data within the App (practice history, scores, profile).
• Delete: Delete your account and all associated data from the App's Profile screen or by visiting our account deletion page.
• Correction: Update your profile information through your Google or Apple account.
• Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting us at support@smartpreplabs.com.
• Opt-out: Disable personalized ads in your device settings.

8. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through:

• The App: Profile → Delete Account
• Web: Account Deletion Request

When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile information, essays, scores, and practice history within 30 days. Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

9. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase Security Rules, and secure authentication via OAuth 2.0. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us immediately.

11. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States where our servers are located. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
