SmartPrep Labs ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Goethe Mock Exam mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Independent app notice: Goethe Mock Exam is an independent exam-preparation app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Goethe-Institut e.V. "Goethe" and "Goethe-Zertifikat" are used only to describe the exam preparation purpose of the App.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name, email address, profile photo, and authentication provider information when you sign in with supported providers such as Google or Apple.
- Firebase user ID and device identifiers needed to keep your account, progress, and subscription status working.
Practice and Exam Data
- Your selected Goethe-Zertifikat level and app preferences.
- Practice answers, mock exam attempts, scores, progress history, bookmarks, and training activity.
- Writing responses, speaking recordings, transcripts, and AI-generated feedback when you use AI evaluation features.
Technical and Usage Data
- App usage events, feature usage, device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and performance data.
- Push notification tokens if you enable reminders or notifications.
Purchase and Subscription Data
- Subscription status, product ID, expiration date, and entitlement status from RevenueCat, Apple App Store, or Google Play.
- We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
2. How We Use Information

3. AI Processing
Some App features use AI services to evaluate writing, speaking, OCR, transcription, or mock exam responses. When you request these features, your submitted content may be sent securely to service providers such as OpenAI, Google Gemini/Vertex AI, Groq, or Google Cloud Speech/Text-to-Speech for processing.
AI feedback is generated for educational purposes. We do not sell your responses. We do not intentionally use your personal practice content for advertising.
4. Services We Use
- Firebase / Google Cloud: authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, crash reporting, messaging, and app integrity checks.
- RevenueCat: subscription and entitlement management.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: payment processing and subscription billing.
- AI and speech providers: evaluation, transcription, OCR, and text-to-speech features when requested.
5. Data Storage and Retention
Account and practice data is stored in Firebase/Google Cloud infrastructure. We keep account data while your account is active or as needed to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain security.
If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify personal account data as described on our Delete Account page. Some aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be retained.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to operate the App, process subscriptions, provide AI features, comply with law, protect users, prevent fraud, or enforce our terms.
7. Your Choices
- You can access and update account information in the App where supported.
- You can delete your account in the App or request deletion using the instructions on delete-account.html.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
- You can disable push notifications in your device settings.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted network connections, Firebase security controls, authentication, and backend access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for exam preparation users and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States or other locations where our providers operate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
